Most of us learned the emotional and family-systems side of this work first. Fewer of us were taught that withdrawal risk in intervention planning is a life-safety issue, not a treatment-center detail. A well-run intervention can end with a yes, a packed bag, and a loved one in a car for six hours with a blood alcohol level that is about to drop for the first time in years. If nobody planned for that, the best outcome in the room can become the worst outcome on the road.
